Our builder / fabricator, John Marcella inspected the bike top to bottom & unfortunately he found a hairline crack on the top of the neck. The chopper arrived to our shop in Philly, Johnny Mac’s Chopper House. So, Evan Favaro from Speakeasy Motors, another builder super talent, just happen to be passing through Fort Lauderdale, FL, so he grabbed it for the long trip north to Philly. The chopper I fell in love with in 2002 was ONE OF THEM! I immediately reached out to Jackie, and we connected right away, it was almost as if I was meant to get that chopper (Mike must have been looking down), I spoke with my wife, and we wrote the check. One day, about two years ago, I saw that Mike’s wife, Jackie, had a few motorcycles up for sale.
I knew of Mike’s passing, but I didn’t even think about where the chopper was. I jokingly told Mike that if you ever die, I want that chopper, and sad to say, we lost Mike to cancer a handful of years ago. While there, I fell in love with a chopper that he was just finishing up for his client, Mike Mays.
He had an eye for pazzzzzaz… if I may create my own word. When at his shop, you couldn’t help but be blown away by the different styles of builds, frames, tanks, and paint. I had the pleasure of spending a good amount of time with Jerry on several occasions, before we lost him to the heavens in 2009. He may very have well been one of the most talented metal forming, design artist, and all around crazy wonderful custom motorcycle builder on planet Earth.
